Graph triangles and quadrilaterals

  • An ordered pair (x,y) tells you the location of a point on the coordinate plane.
  • The x-coordinate tells you the horizontal position.
  • The y-coordinate tells you the vertical position.

Learn with an example

  • Sol: Graph the point (4,3). Start at (0, 0). Move 4 units right and 3 units up.
  • To draw one side of the triangle, graph the point (7,3).
  • To complete the triangle, graph the point (8,0).
  • Graph the point (5,2). Start at (0, 0). Move 5 units right and 2 units up.
  • To draw one side of the triangle, graph the point (10,3).
  • To complete the triangle, graph the point (10,0).
  • Graph the point (1,5). Start at (0, 0). Move 1 unit right and 5 units up.
  • To draw one side of the triangle, graph the point (4,4).
  • To complete the triangle, graph the point (0,2).
