Form and use plurals: review

Key Notes:

  • Add -s: For most nouns, simply add -s to form the plural.
    • Example: cat → cats, book → books
  • Add -es: For nouns ending in -s, -x, -z, -sh, or -ch, add -es to form the plural.
    • Example: bus → buses, box → boxes, brush → brushes
  • Change -y to -ies: For nouns ending in a consonant followed by -y, change -y to -ies.
    • Example: baby → babies, city → cities
  • Add -s: For nouns ending in a vowel followed by -y, just add -s.
    • Example: toy → toys, day → days

  • Some nouns do not follow standard pluralization rules and have unique plural forms.
