Convert decimals to mixed numbers
key notes:
Decimals
- A decimal number consists of a whole number part and a fractional part, separated by a decimal point.
- Example: 2.75 (whole number: 2, fractional part: 0.75).
Mixed Numbers
- A mixed number has a whole number part and a fractional part.

Steps to Convert Decimals to Mixed Numbers
- Identify the Whole Number
- Look at the digits before the decimal point.
- This becomes the whole number part of the mixed number.
- Example: In 2.75, the whole number is 2.
- Extract the Fractional Part
- Take the digits after the decimal point as the numerator of a fraction.
- The denominator is a power of 10 based on the number of decimal places (1 decimal place = 10, 2 decimal places = 100, etc.).

3. Simplify the Fraction
- Reduce the fraction to its simplest form by dividing the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor (GCD).

4. Combine the Whole Number and Fraction
- Write the whole number and the simplified fraction together as a mixed number.
